Specialised humanities subjects in English (CLIL)

At ACGA, you do not just learn English as a subject; you use it as a tool for discovering the world. We teach subjects such as Politics & International Relations, Law, Psychology, Sociology or Management & Business directly in English. This gives you specialist terminology and knowledge that will open doors to international careers and university study.

CLIL (Content and Language Integrated Learning) is one of the major curriculum trends in contemporary European education and one possible strategy for bilingual education. Teaching through CLIL is explained in an explanation of CLIL on the NIDV education portal.

Compulsory elective subjects taught in English

In years three and four, students choose two subjects that provide significant support in preparing for their university specialisation. You can read a detailed description of selected subjects:

Area Studies

In years two and three, students take Area Studies (geography taught in English) - for one hour a week, they study world geography alongside an equivalent lesson in Czech, strengthening their English through subject knowledge.

A natural language environment

One of the clear advantages of CLIL is the natural environment it provides for teaching and developing a foreign language. Students use the foreign language in an entirely natural setting, rather than in artificially constructed situations. They are more motivated and acquire the language naturally.
