First-class English teaching with native speakers

English is taught exclusively by qualified native speakers. Their presence motivates students and brings early results. The number of English lessons increases during the programme - students start with 7 hours per week in the first two years, have 10 hours in the third year and 11 hours per week in the final year.

The teaching strategy aims for academic language proficiency at native-speaker level, university-level writing skills and an in-depth knowledge of world literature. In the first year, students also have one additional hour of English conversation to build confidence.

Students are assigned to English groups based on their entrance test results. In the core programme, they have two hours of grammar and vocabulary (National Geographic textbooks), two hours of literature and two hours of academic writing every week.

Goal: C1 level and above

Regardless of their starting level, all students in years 3 and 4 work with a C1-level textbook. The literature programme covers both British and American writing - from shorter texts to original novels. The academic writing programme develops the ability to structure academic texts; in the final year, students write university-level essays.

International language certificates

Our students use their high level of English and their second foreign language to obtain internationally recognised language certificates. The school organises group registration for Cambridge English (opens in a new tab) exams (in March for the summer dates). We actively support students both in preparing for and taking the exams - a certificate is a lasting, internationally understood record of language proficiency, which is valuable when applying to university, applying to study or work abroad, and in the job market.
